NEW LOOK, SAME PRINCIPLES
VANCOUVER - Describing the first year as "humbling", Tracy David Sim, company owner of All Directions Media, tips his hat to successful companies everywhere. "I have enormous respect for any successful enterprise. It takes an enormous amount of physical and emotional energy to work through the beginning phases", Sim laments.
"Looking ahead, it's especially exciting for us to work with businesses that made it out of the wilderness and are now blazing their own trails", Sim says. "It's inspiring and there is a kind of synergy that develops. It's an intangible that propels both parties", adds Sim. Recently, a new web page layout with Flash banners and a new Flash video sample were employed.
"Simply put, it's a buyer's market for any kind of service like this", says Sim. "A lot of people want to do this. Your potential clients know this and they look at what other companies are doing. It comes down to being honest with yourself and staying in step with the competition and get better if you need to. And we needed to", sighs Sim. "And we'll need to get better again and again", Sim adds. With a look of weary resignation, he recalls the cartoon (of a guy with a target painted on his butt) his brother put on the fridge the morning after he graduated from applied arts. The caption read, "Kick me in the butt, I'm a fine arts grad".
"We might need some better jokes, but other than that, we're here for the long haul", Sim firmly asserts. Asked about goals for the future, Sim would like to be profitable enough to add an associate within the year to share the workload.

FOR THE MAKERS OF THE WORLD
VANCOUVER - All Directions Media announces its intention to serve the architectural design community and property developers seeking promotional material for new developments.
For architectural firms. "I've always loved architecture", says Tracy David Sim, company owner and creative director. "It sets the tone for whatever takes place there. When I am in the midst of good building design, it transforms me and how I feel about everything. I really do believe that good building design will either enhance, or suppress, what takes place there." The majority of people who work in well designed buildings are being energized by their surroundings. In putting together a media package around architectural projects, Sim says it's necessary to try and convey a sense of wonder about the overall ambiance through moving pictures and sound and to tell a story about how it feels to be in and around this building structure.
For property developers. "We are inspired by the warm tones this advertising type employs", says Sim. "Everything in the world is so hard right now, so it's refreshing to look at ad copy and pictures that talk about calmness and serenity. This is the overall appeal. It just feels good. Even if I can't afford it, or don't have an immediate intention of buying that new home, I can still feel good about looking at it. And it stays with me." Sim thinks, "What's wrong with that..? It isn't intent on promoting a hedonistic lifestyle as much as it reveals another simple truth. In this new and uncertain age, it's our home and our sense of it that gives us that barrier between the outside world. It's our home that helps define a feeling of refuge in difficult times."

THE WORLD IS WATCHING
VANCOUVER – The controversial taser death of Polish immigrant, Robert Dziekanski, by mounted police on October 15, 2007, was viewed on You Tube by millions globally and verbally debated by millions more. Why..? Because an amateur photographer saw an unusual event and recorded it with his digital camera. It set off a firestorm of controversy worldwide because you saw faces, expressions, and body language.
All Directions Media is a Vancouver company specializing in digital media creation for established corporations who want to attract new markets with a visual online presence. Tracy David Sim, the company’s owner and creative director says, “The world is a smaller place than it ever used to be. What makes it smaller is its virtual nature. So much of our social fabric now is created through technology. Generally, it's a fun thing people like to be engaged in. This means we are all becoming global participants in a new kind of virtual testimony of modern living. Some if it's good, some of it's not. We like the positive aspects of how technology can be used to make the world a better place.”
Sim is a 20-year member of the International Photographer’s Guild, IATSE, and talks about the role images and pictures play in communication. “Their truth is simple because we’re wired to collect up to 70% of all sensory information through our vision, including sounds and touch. We receive a steady flow of subtle visual gestures that only work at a subconscious level. In the media creation process, we try and understand what these subtle triggers are and we try to use them creatively to help our clients reach their target markets through effective and creative storytelling.”
They say many things about a camera. They say it doesn’t lie. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. What is a moving picture worth..? To those who saw Mr. Dziekanski die on camera, a moving picture is worth a million words.
Digital media and the internet play an increasingly huge role in our lives. It is an undeniable and growing force in our world today. We are a world of instant news gatherers. We see everything, peeling into the truth of human experience like no other time. Internet use and advertising is growing by 50% each year. Simultaneously, television viewing is dropping by almost the same rate while their advertising rates are doubling in price. The pure business potential of a growing marketplace with virtually free advertising means it's only going to get bigger.
